Operational Group FD CONTROLO | Amares hosted the project’s field day

On June 28th, in the village of Amares, a seminar with field visit was held, organized by the Operational Group FD CONTROLO, and led by INIAV, which brought together about 80 participants, representatives of partners and entities interested in the theme of the disease Golden Flavescence (FD) of the vineyard.

This quarantine disease was detected in 2006 in the Vinho Verde Demarcated Region, and led the National Phytosanitary Authority to take measures at a national level, such as the grubbing up of infected plants, mandatory treatments against the insect vector Scaphoideus titanus (ST) and the application of hot water treatment to vegetative propagation materials from affected areas.

The session began in the morning in the auditorium of the City Hall of Amares, moderated by Dina Lopes of CONSULAI, and the opening of the event was chaired by Councilman Delfim Rodrigues. After the welcome, it was time for the presentations of the studies conducted by INIAV in partnership with Avitilima and the development of intelligent traps by INESC TEC.

In the afternoon a field visit was organized, at Quinta do Vilar, with the support of Sociedade Agrícola Irmãos Eusébios, in the person of its Technical Director Maria João Lopes, in order to visit the pilot plots monitored during the project, as well as a demonstration of the operation of the smart trap. At the end of the day, a snack and Verde d’honor were served while participants shared experiences and knowledge while creating synergies between partners in the sector.
