+VALORCER: Enhancing the organization of cereal production in Portugal

The +VALORCER project, funded by the PRR – Recovery and Resilience Plan Program, started in April 2023. Its main goal is to boost cereal Producer Organizations by bringing new and perspectives, advanced technologies, and modern methods of optimization and process management.

This project is a partnership between ANPROMIS, ANPOC, Universidade Nova de Lisboa and CONSULAI, and is led by InnovPlantProtect.

More than 17 producer organizations are collaborating, including rice producers, which accounts for 90% of the national production. This project involves more than 12 500 farmers distributed throughout the country.

In Portugal, there are numerous organizations using quality systems, however, there is still a lot to do in the digitalization of commercial processes and in the valorization of the final product within the industry and the final consumers.

Thus, the main objective of the +VALORCER project is to encourage innovation, increase management efficiency and enhance the value of national cereal production, through an advanced training program in human resources areas and the creation of a blockchain system.

In this regard, in July 2023, the 1st stage of the project was completed. It consisted of a technical visit by the project promoters to all the collaborating Producer Organizations, to diagnose their needs within the implementation of management processes, as well as the capacity of building needs through a design thinking methodology.

At the end of this project, we will certainly have a much more competitive cereal sector, which will be able to meet the growing environmental and economic challenges and reflect the dynamic and strong mobilizing capacity that characterizes it.

Stay tuned for more updates!
