CONSULAI participates in the 5th Iberian Grassland and Forage Crop Meeting with projects Super-G, MIXED and G4AE

CONSULAI was present at the 5th Iberian Grassland and Forage Crop Meeting, which took place from 17th-20th of April in Huelva, Spain, and Loulé, Portugal.

For the fifth time, the “sister” associations Sociedad Española de Pastos (SEP) and Sociedade Portuguesa de Pastagens e Forragens (SPPF) organised the Iberian Grassland and Forage crops Meeting previous editions in 2010, 2000, 1989 and 1980. After a few years in which few scientific events were held, participation in the Iberian Grassland and Forage Meeting was very important for professionals in the grassland sector.

This scientific congress had a very complete programme, with face-to-face sessions with exhibition and debate, together with interesting technical visits and cultural and social activities. It was a unique opportunity to find out about the cutting edge of Iberian research in the different fields related to grassland and forage crops (botany and ecology, plant and animal production, management of silvo-pastoral systems, new tools, the future of the sector, etc.).

In this sense, the theme chosen for this edition, “Pastures and territory – Strategies for food sovereignty and landscape resilience”, reflects the current relevance of grassland management and its productive component and the conservation of habitats, landscapes and species.

In this intense and very interesting scientific meeting, the European projects Super-G (with an oral presentation (Permanent pasture in Europe: analysis of results of the SUPER-G project) and a poster), Grazing4AgroEcology (with poster presentation), and MIXED (with poster presentation) were present.
