A CONSULT and a Nutrifarms organize the first event of the project Horizon 2020 ClieNFarms, dedicated to the decarbonization of the olive grove. The meeting takes place in Portugal in the spring of 2023 and seeks to identify and discuss technical and organizational solutions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase carbon sequestration in the Portuguese olive oil sector.
The event is a space for dialogue that brings together farmers and other actors in the value chain so that they can choose the solutions most suitable for their farms in the transition to climate neutrality. The objectives are to discuss adaptation and the implementation of solutions, to empower farmers, and to promote discussion among participants about how the project can support these choices.
What is the ClieNFarms
O ClieNFarms It is an innovation project with a duration of four years, funded by European Commission for to support European Green Deal. It aims to promote the development and dissemination of systemic solutions adapted to the local context, which contribute to increasing the number of sustainable, climate-neutral and resilient agricultural farms across Europe.
Solutions demonstrated at the operational level
In support of EStrategy From The Table To The Plate, The project demonstrates on the ground, evaluates and improves technical, organizational and financial solutions at the level of agricultural exploitation that contribute to the climate neutrality of European agriculture by 2050. The work is based on a framework of case studies, the I3S (Innovative Systemic Solutions Space), which support the training of all actors in the value chain in the different production systems.
The solutions are integrated in an interactive way and improved throughout the project, with the aim of developing economically viable business models. The process involves farmers and agricultural advisory technicians, agro-food companies, political decision-makers and citizens, and the event is the moment when the advantages and limitations of each solution are demonstrated, so that farmers can decide in an informed manner.
