GALP intended to assess the availability of forest, agricultural and agro-industrial biomass in different European geographies, in order to evaluate the opportunity to make investments related to advanced biofuels. To this end, it launched a public tender to develop this quantification.

• Quantification of the annual availability of the biomass fraction of waste originating from agriculture, forestry, agro-forestry industries and other lignocellulosic waste by strata of geographical areas, namely: Portugal, Iberian Peninsula, Southern Europe, Central and Northern Europe
• Data presented by type of biomass and loading point and raw material location/location, and referring to the moisture content (wet/dry/medium)
• Standard/current unit prices or ranges per biomass fraction
• Evaluate the total logistical cost from the origin to Sines (train unloading at the refinery site; ship unloading at the local port)
• The main stakeholders, or clusters, have been identified and listed, whenever possible
Preparation of a report with an exhaustive and complete survey of residual biomass availability, per year, in the area of influence of Sines, including the information and respective sources used in the forecasts
