The project H2020 SuWaNu Europe, has been fulfilling its journey in promoting the reuse of treated wastewater in agriculture. The project arose from the need to explore the fact that wastewater, when treated according to appropriate standards and methods, have a strong potential to complement conventional water resources used for agricultural irrigation. Beginning in 2019, the project will end in June 2021 and this will be the culmination of 2.5 years of project execution on this theme.

CONSULAI and FENAREG – national Portuguese partners of the European consortium – invite all interested parties to participate in the International Conference, which will be held on 18 and 19 May, in online format, bringing renowned experts to promote the much needed debate on the best solutions and strategies to expand water for reuse in agriculture.

The conference programme is divided into 2 days. On the first day, the main barriers and challenges to implement the recently approved EU regulation on water reuse will be analysed. It will also feature interactive parallel sessions to discuss the solutions and strategies that fit each national context in the 8 project regions, and the presentation of success stories from Israel and Cyprus.

On the second day, some innovative initiatives and technologies in the sector will be presented, with an Elevator Pitch session. The conference also includes a round table with experts from the sector.

On both days, the conference will feature excellent speakers on the topic of water for reuse in agriculture, including Marie Raffin (Water Reuse Europe), Gonzalo Delacámara (IMDEA), Panagiotis Balabanis (European Commission) and Marta Carvalho (AdP – Águas de Portugal). To conclude, we will also have Andrea Rubini (Water Europe) and Antonia Lorenzo (BIOAZUL).

This conference will be broadcast live, with a virtual stage where we will connect in streaming with all the experts and professionals who will join us.
